Reading I: Zechariah 9: 9-10
Shout for joy! He comes in peace!
First Reading Background
- The verses in the reading from Zechariah describe the messianic king in terms familiar to the tradition.
- Jerusalem was personified as a sentinel waiting for the king's arrival.
- The new messiah, who came like Solomon, would banish all instruments of war; his kingdom would be a kingdom of peace.
Reading II: Romans 8: 9, 11-13
Live by the Spirit.
Second Reading Background
- The Letter to the Romans describes the activity of God's Spirit.
- Paul uses the image of flesh without spirit to describe the person who does not live by God's Spirit.
- According to Paul, that "Spirit-less" person is already dead.
Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-30
Come to me all you who are weary.
Gospel Background
- In the Gospel today, Jesus speaks, not only as a wisdom teacher, but as Wisdom herself.
- Jesus borrows the language of wisdom to praise God for revelation through him.
- He is the perfect revelation of God because Jesus is God's Son, knowing God perfectly.

Primera lectura
- Moisés les recordó a los israelitas que Dios los ha protegido en el desierto y que ellos deben confiar en él.
- Moisés les recordó que todo lo que tenían provenía de Dios.
- El maná fue lo que los alimentó en el desierto y la Palabra de Dios alimentó su espíritu.
Segunda lectura: Romanos 8: 9, 11-13
Espíritu que habita en vosotros.
Segunda lectura
- La vida de Jesús mantiene nuestra vida.
- Nos mantenemos unidos al compartir su vida.
- Somos el Cuerpo de Cristo cuando tomamos la Eucaristía.
Evangelio: Mateo 11: 25-30
Venid a mí todos los que estáis cansados y cargados.
Evangelio
- Jesús es la Palabra de Dios encarnada.
- Jesús es el Pan de Vida.
- Su carne que fue dada por el mundo fue una promesa de nuestra resurrección.
